On mixed/non-mixed gatherings
At our first meet-up we discussed that many of us experience sexism in tech-related gatherings and we want to have a space where those affected by sexism feel welcome. Our gatherings will be all be non-mixed (for trans, queer, women only) unless noted otherwise.
Update, October 2016: "term coined by @debcha - souerveillance: looking out for the safety of other female-identified bodies in public spaces"

Introduce the idea of 'Hacking Feminism'
Discuss the THF! convergence report
"The TransHackFeminist convergence was first organized in Calafou, an eco-industrial post-capitalist colony, located 60 km from Barcelona, Catalonia. For seven days, from the 4th to the 11th of August 2014, intersectional feminists, queer and trans people of all genders met to better understand, use and ultimately develop free and liberating technologies for social dissent. The participants of the THF! understand technologies and hacking practices in the broadest sense; this includes hacking the body, gynecology and gender hacking, as well as academia, parenthood, and also computer systems, (distributed) networks, autonomous servers, “pirate”, community based and/or independent radio/tv, hardware and electronics."
During THF! there were some pretty interesting discussions and workshops ranging from defining trans feminism or DIY gyne tests at the Gynepunk BioLab to a project that emerged: anarchaserver, the world's first feminist server! You can browse through the text for details on THF! - especially pages 5 & 6 for a definition of THF! - but don't let lack of reading limit you from joining us!

This workshop of Hacking Feminism will be open to all feminists regardless of gender but please read carefully below before joining.
With Hacking Feminism our aim is to have a space where women, queers, trans people feel welcome. For this reason each and every one of us is encouraged to be mindful of another's situation - this includes being self-aware and open to criticism. If you receive criticism and/or are asked to leave we ask that you do it on the spot and we will look into being open for discussion at a later stage.
If any of the above sound like something you don't want to do we urge you to choose another time to visit LAG.

Eleventh meetup
Topic: Let's talk about cis men
Date & Time: Wednesday, 7 December, 2016 - 19:30 to 21:30
Place: LAG
Details: Let's talk about cis men
Patriarchy is a system where cis men hold primary power. Feminism as a social struggle opposes patriarchy and its symptoms (sexism, transphobia, homophobia etc). Intersectionality suggests that the different forms of oppression coexist and thus our understanding of feminism shouldn't be limited to gender repression (binary or not).
Men very often happen to be our sons, partners, fathers, co-workers, friends or even the dude next door. They also are active parts of feminist movements, support feminism in everyday situations and can understand how gendered socialisation affects us all. But how can men be feminists and what are the possible dangers or advantages of calling themselves feminists?
In this event we want to discuss navigating relationships with cis men as a feminist as well as their role in feminism.
This discussion is for women, queer people and trans people only and it aims to give ourselves space to think about how cis men fit in feminism and to provide tools for discussing feminism with them. It is not aimed at education, support or engagement of cis men in feminist struggles. If you're a cis man and interested in a similar event don't hesitate to get in contact with us!
